Re: Mizen Area Landscapes

Laura, let me give you an example of what I mean. I was in Wales last year when we stopped at a pub for a meal.

This was the view from the pub window - and very nice it was too. However, from the position of a photographer, the viewpoint from the road was too high.

So I climbed over a small fence, slipped and fell some four-five feet to the lake edge and squatted down to get the lowest viewpoint I could. I actually got my bum wet in doing so and had to spend the rest of the day with a soggy rear end.

I set the aperture to something like f13 so that the distant objects would be in focus, upped the ISO so that the shutter speed would quicken, focused on the rocks in the foreground, recomposed and took the shot.

While I was there, I took four shots from left to right to stitch into a panorama.

These are the results. Best viewed large.

Re: Mizen Area Landscapes

Thanks I have no idea where to begin with stitching, so I work with the abilities I have... I did get down pretty low (and sadly didn't have much time either unfortunately). I honestly thought I was applying most of the rules above, but evidently I wasn't properly!

Re: Mizen Area Landscapes

Take the photographs and overlap them by a half. Once they are on the computer, search for and download Serif PanoramaPlus 3. It's free.

Load the photos into PanoramaPlus and then click stitch. The program will then stitch the photos together seamlessly.

When I say low, Laura, I mean down the step and onto the beach. Get to the water's edge and then crouch to take your shot.

Re: Mizen Area Landscapes

How would I get the beach in if I did that? I was very keen to get the beach in as well, but I definitely know what you mean about getting down low, I usually do with most things, but with this it was down the steps, or where I was, I guess I could have gone down the steps and stood back from the sea and got down. I also rather liked getting the steps in the shot , but I can see it doesn't seem to work for most.
