Ah ok, the one I am using at the moment isn't particularly light (not that it is too heavy either though) so when I lifted the 2 Manfrotto legs, they didn't seem to bother me too much, but the difference between the 055XPROB and the 190XPROB was certainly noticable.

Manfrotto have some good stuff - im not to keen on the ball heads- i tried them out put they are realy not what i wanted as i found them a little too fluid.
I do like their products, I have a Manfrotto monopod which I am very happy with, hence wanting to go back to them for a tripod. That is exactly what I found with the Ball heads, they were far too fluid and imprecise for my liking I do a lot of Macro work and often make small adjustments with the 3 way head I have at the moment. This would be near on impossible with the Ball heads, unless I was very steady.

Re: My other B'Day pressie...

Yay nice one !

is it the 055XPROB orthe 190XPROB.

I wanted the 190 but found it a bit short for me so decided (bad back and all) the 055 was best but due to price (for once I stuck to my budget) - went with the Slik 700DX.

I would have quite liked the swinging (to horizontal) function though.

Can't wait for the results !
