I have just queried Lightroom and in 2011, 20% of my shots were taken in portrait orientation. On top of that I would add that quite a few shots taken in landscape orientation are cropped to portrait.

Greyhounds make for great action pictures. If you get the chance to get some shots you won't be disapointed. A couple of examples to see what I mean

They are amazing action shots, still nice and sharp,
I tried something similar with my poppy {she's the action hero in my lot} but there was some blurry bits, so i have made a note of photo data and i will try it with my camera, the only thing i have notice is with my camera it seems to need a lot of light at those speeds.

Fantastic pictures! Looks like you'll have to come and do Axel! The only action shots I've got of him have some blurring - I think I'd need an slr! Gives me an idea for a thread...
