Re: Starling,Long tailed tit, Fieldfare,Goldfinch,Great tit,Chaffinch,Blackbird

really stunning shots DJ
I wish I could upgrade my 300D - any raising of the ISO creates ridiculous amounts of noise. Really can't justify it though.

Re: Starling,Long tailed tit, Fieldfare,Goldfinch,Great tit,Chaffinch,Blackbird

Absolutely gorgeous - I love the Long Tailed Tit!

I'm not a huge fan of the backgrounds though - they seem very bright and a bit eye hurty! I guess that was the snow in part!

Still - fab shots!

Thanks Laura.

I think you would be a fan of the backgrounds if your monitor was calibrated seriously though, have a look at this page http://www.w4zt.com/screen/
and see if you can adjust your monitor for better viewing. I'm only suggesting this because my own monitor is calibrated and nothing hurts my eyes on my screen and my images are much the same on other monitors e.g Mitsubishi diamondtron crt. I also remember a post from Dawn that you suggested the highlights were blown in her image, and that makes me think for sure that it's your monitors calibration (gamma, brightness, contrast not set properly)thats out.

Try these adjustment steps on the link and let me know if it makes a difference

Re: Starling,Long tailed tit, Fieldfare,Goldfinch,Great tit,Chaffinch,Blackbird

Just to add. When you buy a new monitor, manufacturers usually have the default brightness set far to high, even expensive monitors like my HPLP2475w (that link has good articl;es as well as monitor reviews) which certainly needed calibrated.

I did what the website asked of me! All the images look much better, but 7 and 8 still have a bit of glare about them... could still be the monitor I guess?

The top half of the background on #8 is about the brightest of all these images but should not cause any glare. If the images look better to you rthen that certainly is a step in the right direction for tweaking your monitors gamma and colour controls

What make and model is your monitor Laura?
