I used to have that camera and lens kit, quick tip don't get rid of the 18-70mm lens even if you change cameras. I did and have regretted it ever since.
One of the reasons I upgraded to the D200 (available at the time) was first of all only having 6meg pix, and second more important I got fed up having to go into the menu every time to alter the basic settings as it is menu driven.

The easy of use on the D200 with the major adjustments being button or dial on the body was a huge difference and well worth the extra cash.

Now if I was upgrading from the D70s I would obviously be looking at the D300 but just spashed some cash on a new lens so a camera upgrade will have to wait.

Thanks for the advice. I used a D200 and some expensive lenses when I was working abroad but returning to the UK I went into pauper mode and had to make do with my own 2nd hand D70s. It's held together with string, sellotape and superglue With hindsight the D200 would have been a better starter here but beggars can't be choosers and a D70s appeared right under my nose with a trusted seller so I was tempted. I really like it anyway...has a feel of a real cam even if it is 'low end' on the scale of things. Will be on the look out for a D200/D300 or maybe a D90 in the next few weeks or months I'd guess. I like the 18-70 but I'd like a 50mm prime and possibly a Tamron 17-50 with Sigma 10-20mm to replace it.

For me this shot has everything right, the composition is spot on and the colours are both vibrant and as expected so everything pleases and nothing jars.
