Also tell a like about the Korg it's the LE version!

I was mainly into Drum & Bass, although dabbled into general dance music too Would love to get back into it tho.
I've just downloaded a demo mp3 of the Kork triton le, it sounds amazing.
I was looking at your mixing desk too and it puts mine to shame lol

I like it though for its size, built in effects and the many connections it has e.g midi in/out, digital in/out, guitar hi-z and XLR mic input (but no phantom power) and of course USB. I use sonar 2 with the U8,but since i've upgraded my OS to Vista, the built in effects of the U8 are not displaying correctly (even when run in xp compatability mode) and since it is discontinued, there are no more driver update's.

Here is a download link to one of my last tunes/demo I recorded through the U8 mixer and sc88pro sound module. I used my echo accoustic and Vintage sg electric guitar. http://www.stardust.biz/music%20mp3/...rs%20demo6.zip

Do you have any of your tracks handy Azz? I love to listen to other types of music differant from my own style/taste ,especially keyboard stuff, instrumental's etc.

Re: My latest pc build

Just downloading your tune now

Shame there are no more drivers for your U8, I hate it when that happens... although it means you can go and get some more goodies

I don't have any of my tracks on the PC, it really was years ago when I was into it - and back then I pressed onto the highest quality tapes of that time.. which of course I can't find now!! *rolls eyes* lol My PC then just wasn't up to do the sequencing (inc samples) and recording at the same time.

I keep thinking about selling it all, although I'd only get a fraction of what I paid now but then keep thinking I'll get back into one day maybe when I've retired!

Just heard your track - excellent stuff!

If you want to listen to the kind of stuff I like, see if you can download, Renegade Snares - High contrast remix (has to be their remix, although the original is a classic too). I also like their newer one, 'if we ever'.

But Drum and Bass is so varied, it has as many genres as music itself, jazz influenced d&b, techno influenced, ragga/rap (although I'n not keen on those two), even classical type remixes. I love it because every frequency is 'tuned' and integral. It's the sort of music you can get lost in, esp if you have a nice sound system with plenty of bass

Re: My latest pc build

Thanks Azz. I managed to listen to a preview of Rengade Snares(foul play vip mix) and the original version, I prefered the vip mix. Those drum patterns seem to be very complex, when you sequenced your rhythm tracks did you do them in real or step time? I always did mine in realtime as I found it to be the easiest way to get a pattern together quickly. Just tapping out on the keyboard (or when I used a hardware sequencer, on the buttons) then quantizing for each part.

Yes its really annoying since I was so used to this machine. I think it's just a ploy by the manufacturer to force you to upgrade. I would not have minded so much if they had a higher spec U8, but they have had nothing like it since

Re: My latest pc build

lol it has to be the high contrast remix

All the drum tracks were laid out via the sequencer, however I used a program called recycle to first chop up drum loops and then altered them via soundforge, or vice versa manipulated them first and then spliced them. Recycle then provides you with a midi file and the individual samples you can import into a sampler. And then you can obviously change it around in the sequencer to compose your own drum track/variations It sounds complicated but once you get into it it not's too bad - but I wasn't joking when I said D&b is about every tiny element

I'm out of touch with all the gear now, but there were some lovely mixing desks coming out back then - bet they are even better now. Isn't Christmas coming? Put one on your wish list
