Thanks Snapper. I'm really excited about getting some in flight too - hopefully won't be long! It was a bit of a jump into the unknown, and also a lot of money for me, but I was just needing a bit more from a camera than I could get wit my little one, so decided to stretch my budget and go for something that will hopefully last me a while, and teach me a lot!

Re: First Shots with Nikon D60 (More Archie I'm Afraid)!

Ive just had a look at all these pics. lovely bird , and I can see freda isnt a munster now. In you avatar I wasnt sure ( posted a reply in my thread asking) what all hawks do you have? I have a freind who does displays with his at skibo castle and know another chap who displays his at dunrobin.
lots of work eh?
lovely pics , Im just learning too. getting off the auto modes can be a bit daunting.Im doing it now mostly on av or tv not managing much with success on full manual yet, but hey thats why I joined here to get tips and learn.

Re: First Shots with Nikon D60 (More Archie I'm Afraid)!

Thanks Clairelou - he's such a good subject, so great for practising!

Sorry Jean, I didn't see your reply! She was only about 4 months or so in my avatar, so maybe her face hadn't matured quite. It's strange though, we did consider a munsterlander, but GSPs are a habit hard to break! Hawks-wise, I only have Archie, but my parents fly and breed harrises and redtails. In the past we've had others; my first was a kestrel when I was about 9. So tame and exciting to train! My parents don't really do displays, but do a lot of flying - I hardly see them all winter! I do like watching the displays though - some really impressive birds!

Thanks Stormey. I'll get the hang of it soon I hope - just need to practise lots! Sure I'll bore you all with the results soon!
