Re: Scottish landscapes and Architecture

Wow, there are so many good shots here it's hard to decide which I like best. But the one that really stands out for me is number 4 (River Clyde reflection shot), this such a brilliant picture, I like everything about it.

13 is my next favourite shot, I like the way the boardwalk leads onto the boat that then leads onto the castle.

Re: Scottish landscapes and Architecture

Fantastic Grant although you don't make it easy for us posting so many great shots in a single thread.

Personally I like the first shot (Beinn a' Bheither) of Loch Leven but I'm a sucker for a Munro.

My other favourites would be:

4)River Clyde reflection - It has a wonderful calming feel to it and a bit different to the normal night shots.

15)Loch Lomond - just has such clarity

17)Black Rock Cottage - very subtle colours (had my butties sat on that rock the other day)

Re: Scottish landscapes and Architecture

There are so many cools shots in this post that I don't want to pick a favorite. I like the way you use perspective and angles in your composition. I love the fact that you always include something of interest in the foreground that leads the fiewer's eye to other parts of the whole image. I like the color choices and tasteful use of subtle vignettes to steer the eye to a central subject. Job well done in this set!

Re: Scottish landscapes and Architecture

Thank you all for your comments. Phil, I was there on the 22nd April on our way back from Moidart, Ardnamurchan and Sunart tour.

Thanks Bob, any vignetting on these images have been the result of using multiple filters
and the only way to get rid of it is to zoom in a little or use Canon's DPP vignetting tool, which I usually do as I do not particularly like vignetting on images. I'm not sure what you mean about colour choices? all these images were taken at different times of the day and different time of the year too. I do, however, use the white balance tune tool in Canon's DPP.

Thanks again everyone for your comments, much appreciated.

Re: Scottish landscapes and Architecture

What I meant about color choices is the lovely pastels in most of the skies.

Hope you liked it Grant - I know you've mentioned in the past (when we've been over) that's it's an area you've fancied visiting.

Did you go along the South side of Loch Sunart at all (turn left just before Strontian) or did you plough West ?

Hi Phil. No, we went west towards Salen stopping along the way at the new wildlife hide (B8007 road) as well as a few other places before making our way to Castle Tioram in Moidart. We took the Corran ferry going there but decided to go the long way back home via Glenfinnan etc.
Really lovely area but unfortunately it remained very hazy the whole time we were there.

We would not mind going back again if you could point us to any good photographic spots perhaps along the south side?
