Re: A few snaps of Loki (Utonagan)

I feel your use of Gaussian Blur for your backgrounds is overdone. It dominates the area the viewer sees. I'd be interested to see a light blur around the edges combined with a light vignette instead.

Gausssian blur for backgrounds? I don't know whether to feel insulted at the very thought I would do such a destructive, unatural, and downright cheap way to compensate for a crap lens or poor photography, or feel complimented on my fine 400mm f5.6 and 70-200mm f4.0L lenses?

Bob, I do nothing to my images, except resizing, saving for web etc in pse, after processing the RAW file in Canon DPP. I may clone out dust spots. If I had to spend my time messing arround with my images in a graphics prog , altering backgrounds or whatever else, I certainly would not have paid the ammount I did for all my camera gear, it would have been a waste of money IMO to have to resort to a graphics program to compensate for poor photography skills and/or a poor lens or camera. Bob, I don't even use noise reduction on my cams except for long exposures.

As for you other suggestions about adding light blur and vignette to my images, well, I don't add to something that was not there to start with, that is cheating and severe image manipulation IMO. If you have to add to an image or take away without being able to adjust ,ie exposure comp, white balance, colours etc then that is a false image.

I'm also curious as to why people think they need £400+ graphics software for there DSLR images? what is it that needs to be done that cannot be done in a cheaper £60 package like I have.
