Is this a heron?
I was going to ask if this was a heron but I just looked at the other thread and it looks the same? (I'm not very well educated about birds and wildlife despite my love of country walking!)
I was out for my walk today (only 11 miles and I was glad to see the car) and I saw this heron. It was a fair distance and I only had 200mm max with me (Nikon 55-200mm VR) as my 70-300 is too heavy to lug around.
Then in the background I saw something moving and it was a fox making his/her way across the field!
Both pictures max magnification, 200mm, heavily cropped and only represent a portion of the frame. Just posting here for interest, not C&C.

Yes its a Grey Heron. They often land in fields, mainly during the morning or late afternoon.

Not a bad shot considering you only had the 55-200mm with you, I've still yet to get an even half decent heron shot, they usually scarper as soon as they spot you.

Yep it's a heron alright! I've been lucky here - the herons near us (and there are *loads* 
are all really confiding and stay around for ages!
