Insurance
Is your camera and equipment worth loads of cash? I have just taken out a photographic insurance policy after I did a check to see the total value.
If you do, insurance companies will more than likely not only ask for the value of individual items but also the serial numbers where possible as well. I have to say at this point I find the insurance policy expensive considering a car worth say around £20,000 can be insured for around £300 but camera gear worth say £5000 will cost around £180 depending on companies ( rough figures as a guideline).
What bought it home to me about getting insured is when out on a field trip I slipped down a muddy bank and fell, had the NikonD200 and the Nikon 70-300mm VR lens in my hand at the time. What would it have cost me to replace those items? £1000+. Luckily I managed to save that gear from being ruined.
Friends of mind claim to have it covered on house contents, if this is the case for you I would do a check, if the items havn't been listed as above as they may want proof that you actually owned that camera/lens with at least the serial number/value.
Just go add up the photographic equipment value you own and you may have a shock.
