Foggy River House Panorama

I have mixed feelings about today's photo ride back to the River House. I can't control the weather so I had to settle with a sunrise that combined a dry, overcast sky with fog. The trees did their part and were brilliantly colored. The reflection off the water wasn't nearly as dramatic as the sunshine one. Overall it was a pleasant shot with average photos.

I did set up my first ever panoramic photograph. I used CS4's Photomerge to stitch them together. That feature did a great job. I hope to utilize this added capability in the future. My tripod gear works, and works well.











I've added another edition of the panoramic that I see used as a header, for menus, newsletters, web pages, etc.

I'm no expert as this was my first attempt. I used the Photomerge feature in Photoshop CS4 under File>Automate>Photomerge to easily accomplish the final product. You simply tell it what files you want merged and it stitches them together. There are slots available for many photos to be included, at least 8-10. Keep in mind you are exponentially increasing the final product's file size. I can see the many uses for this technique when using prime lenses, ie. fixed focal length lenses. You may not be able to back away from the subject to capture it all in one frame. The key is a steady tripod able to pan. Again, I'm no expert but will include this shooting technique in my bag of tricks for future shoots.
