Pink Carnation, I was trying to capture the frilliness of a carnation

I like it, but I think it's missing something - only thing is I'm not quite sure what as I'm not a flower person really

I think it needs a focal point of some sort? :-/

I was trying to show the soft, frilliness of the flower, not so much the flower. I know what I mean Maybe it didn't work

Although there is no real focal point, you have captured some subtle colours and demonstrated good control over DOF. These alone make it a pleasing picture.

Thanks Jack x I seem to be struggling to get a real focal point on this type of flower, as it is all frills, took some more today, and they have come out more or less the same

I think it works as it is Jols, the colour is bright and clear, you got the softness spot on too, Imo.

I tried photographing carnations today and gave up on it. Are they one of the hardest flowers to photograph?

I seem to struggle getting the shot I want with Carnations I think it is because the are so frilly, and there is no actual centre, so it is hard to get a focal point.Maybe I am just making excuses I dunno, i do find them hard though, Roses, Gerberas, Daisies,Lillies are all good to practise on,big bold flowers, oh have you got an Orchid.
