My new Monitor (and PC)

Well it's not new now as I've had it a little while but here it is:

(Pic was taken with the old camera)

It's a Dell 2707, 27" PC monitor with a 92% Color Gamut (LCDs are normally 75% CG, although the newer ones will prob be 92%) this basically means it displays more colour > more accurately. So it's great for photography work. Resolution is 1920 x 1200 (so I can play 1080p games on it with my PS3 too ) and the dot pitch is a nice comfortable size so I don't have to squint like you do on the 24" monitors.

My PC specs (which is also fairly new) are as follows:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
Asus P5B Deluxe (Motherboard)
2GB Geil Ultra DDR2 800MHz (4-4-4-12)
ATi Radeon X1650PRO 256MB
320 GB Seagate 16MB Cache HD
Pioneer 18X DVD
ThermalTake Soprano (case)
Vista 64bit

I built it myself and recommend people build their own whenever possible! (Nero will second me there!). The parts are all very high quality and it only cost me around £500 when I bought it in May.

Kit 1
Nikon D300
Nikon 55-200mm VR
Kit 2
Nikon D40
Nikon 18-55mm
My Compact/P&S: Panasonic Lumix TZ7

I was trying to work out what the DVD's/Games were

I self built my previous machine and had to take the current one apart when I received it as it wasn't working  You can get some decent deals on entire packages now though.

I am sorely tempted to get another, especially since mine has been down for the last 10 months

Re: My new Monitor (and PC)

Great looking monitor Azz, what was your previous monitor, and how does the dell compare to it?. I've been meaning to upgrade mine now for a while, I'm using a 16" Eizo that I've had for 4 or 5 year now.

We have similar pc specs too, I'll post pics and specs in another thread.

Canon 5D MKII
Canon 400mm f5.6 L
Canon 70-200mm f4.0 L
Canon 17-40mm f4.0 L

Re: My new Monitor (and PC)

Thanks guys

lol the third is Casino Royale, Blu Ray disc (Which is my favourite bond film ever! Daniel Craig is MILES better than that Bronson!) ps the desk was tidy for the photoshoot - it's normally a tip! lol

DJV - lol it's a long story, but I went through a Samsung 22", a Dell 24" and then settled on the Dell 27". My original monitor was a flat screen Sony 17" CRT with a decent dot pitch. The Samsung was a TN panel, so no good for design, so it went back. The 24" Dell was a lovely monitor but the dot pitch was too small, and you either have to sit really close to the monitor, or squint! So they let me send it back and gave me a good deal on the Dell 27", which I think is awesome. They are bringing out another 27" early next year tho, so if you can wait.. But the colours are amazing, pictures look better than on any monitor I've ever had. We also recently purchased a 20" Imac for the office (not the new models as those are tn panels) it has a SIPS panel and I like it a lot too. You can't beat the Dell's enormity tho - I couldn't go back to a smaller monitor now

I agree, Brilliant bond movie, best so far

I've been looking at sony, NEC, and eizo widescreen monitors over 22", but this dell sounds good. Is it the Dell 2707wfp @ £783? didnt expect that price:eek: but it is a lot of screen
