This will make better sense than my other very long post on monitor calibration, this video is about ColorMunki Photo and is titled : Profile Your Printer Monitor and Projector:



I will add videos that I find on YouTube concerning the other monitor calibration products I mentioned in my other post, as and when I find them.

I have had a serious look at color mukie as well as others. Yes it is a good product but at £300 to be used hardly ever, the question is, it it worth the cost? If you are doing professional prints on an expensive printer then maybe the answer is yes, but for the ordinary "snapshots" then I wouldn't bother. Just setting up the printer (photographic type) using sRGB settings or Adobe RGB usually produces acceptable colour reproduction.
I have had a demonstration of the product at the Focus-0n-Imaging at the NEC this year by the manufactures reps so seen it being used as well as the Spyder version.

Calibration is important to anyone who wants to make sure they colours they are seeing on their screen are the actual colours of their image.

One will never get the exact colour as shown on a screen for one simple reason, the screen is backlite and a hard copy photo isn't. Using color munkie to its best advantage you need a top of the range monitor and photoprinter. This was clearly demonstrated to me at the show where the subtle tones in a portrait did improve the facial colour.
I am not saying "don't" get one, what I am saying is the recommendation is to calibrate once a month depending on how often prints are taken off the screen, so useage would be only 12 times a year .

Out of all of them the color munkie I found was about the best, some other makes don't calibrate the printer only calibrate from the computer to the screen. I must have spent a good couple of hours at the show asking questions and having demos and should I happen to have a spare £300 then I would consider buying it.

You won't get the exact colour unless you have a very VERY expensive monitor (and even then it will only be so close) but what you will get is as close as you can get to the correct colours with the monitor you do have.

If you're serious about photography (or any print work) - get your screen calibrated.

The ColorMunki would be used more than once a month, as you use it to sets up different print profiles for the different types of paper used. Also, while sitting next to your computer it measures the ambient light and adjusts the monitor accordingly.

PS I upgraded my Huey, as I do not have the money just now to purchase a ColorMunki but it's going on my wish list
