Sauratown Mountains

Taken on a trip to the Sauratown Mountains, just amazing, going again very soon, to climb the next mountain. Taken from the summit of Hanging Rock Mountain. The good thing about climbing a mountain in 90 degree heat is getting into the waterfall at the bottom, when you have finished.

Got a lot to go through so these are just a few for now

What Fun! Loks like you've discovered the huge tracts of wilderness around your area. I'm sure you don't have to travel far to get there either. My friends back South are telling me of the exreme hit & humidity they're experiencing. Having lived in South Carolina for 13 years I know exactly what they're talking about. I don't miss it one bit. The high in Portland yesterday was 69 with a high today forecast to be 80.

Love the landscape vistas you've captures. I notice the clouds cooperated and addd to the beauy. Sometimes those same clouds turn into afternoon thunderstorms, "Frogstranglers". Have fun Suzi, there's lots to see.

Those are lovely Moon (just a tad small! post bigger ones ) looks like you've got used to the D300 quite quickly!

Bob, when I got to the top, I looked at the clouds as they started to really puff up, like they do before a big thunderstorm, so was relieved to not get soaked!! Yeah, it has been so hot, in the nineties for ages, but with the high humidity, it feels even hotter! I love it when it thunders xxx Yes, there is so much to see and do,going to a Cherokee reservation soon, so looking forward to that

Jack, yep, I am mindful of snakes, we even had one in the garden! I had only ever seen one adder in the UK! so bit of a culture shock, but now getting used to them, see Copperheads quite a lot, have yet to come across a Rattlesnake, but I make plenty of noise walking in the forests so they hear me, and always keep on the trails. xx also careful where I paddle in the lakes/streams.

Nice shots Moon, bit hot for walking, prefer the cooler weather here but great for a day out. Great to see some vistas of the whole scene if poss as those above are 'framed' by natural scenery. I am dying to see the whole view!

Can't do the whole view, trees and rocks cover the top, you have to clamber around just to get these shots, and most of these I was standing so close the edge I was freaking everyone out, especially the one on my 52 weeks the next mountain on my list has an observation tower so will be able to get clear shots.
