A friends car

A very good friend has decided to sell his car, so he popped round and asked me to take a few shots of it for the advert.

So we went out to a good spot when the sun was nice and low. Here is one of the shots from that series:

Great shot Ken. Wouldn't say no to that if I had the money.

Thanks Jonni,

Panning can be one of those things that after a little practise you find it gets better and easier, although I would say watch your shutter speed and perhaps start at between 400th - 320th, then work your way down a little bit more for the desired amount of motion blur.

I do use a monopod but I have to say it's more for resting the combined weight of the lens & camera combo than for increasing a keeper rate. I found at the GT meeting where I had forgotten to pack the monopod I got the same sort of keeper rate (~87%).

For car static shots, location & light are key, plus watch out for bad reflections, also strobe lights can add that extra punch:

Kit 1
1DSmkIII & 1DmkIV
Canon EF70-200L f/2.8 IS
Canon EF100L macro f/2.8 IS
Canon EF85L f/1.2 mkII
Canon EF24-105L f/4 IS
Canon EF300L f/2.8 IS
Canon EF17-40L f/4

Re: A friends car

Thanks for your time With the tips Ken. I think I'll start with some static shots and my lighting. Do you use a Polaroid filter with them?
The attached image is 1st class by the way.

Thanks Jonni, I have a polarising filter that I use very occasionally to get the odd reflection under control, although glass and plastics can some times look a bit weird, so perhaps merge two images or desaturate the glass/plastic.
