1st light for my Nifty 50

A couple of 1st light images taken with my new Nifty 50. Nothing thrilling, just test images really. But comments more than welcome



I was hoping to take at least 2 images, one inanimate object and one animate, namely one of the pups, Rocco. Trying to get him to sit still tonight was impossible, all he ever wants to do now when i try and photograph him is come and lick the lens. So i ended up with another inanimate object, an ornament of a Jack Russell, at least this one stood still,lol.

Nice Mark sure you gonna have some fun with your new lens, something I don't own is a prime lens and heard lots about nifty 50's seems its got great dof are they the lens that go f2.8

Thanks Owen Its a F1.8 lens, very basic lens really, made of plastic and glass and i suppose this is reflected in the price, but its major plus point has to be its sharpness, supposed to be very sharp at f2.8. Smaller filter size of 52mm although thats not an issue, means any filter for it is cheap too
I did place my screw on macro lens over the end of the lens last night to see what quality of images were at F1.8, never seen such a shallow DOF. Image quality for macro seems to be good at around f.4 though. Should be interesting using it as a macro lens too although it was purchased for other purposes initially.
