A duck in green

This is a photo I took down in Telford over the half term. The focus is unfortunately on the feathers rather than the duck's face which is annoying. The canal actually was that vivid green colour, which inspired me to take some photos; one of the first photos I've taken in awhile, UCAS has been taking up my time quite a lot lately .
I'd appreciate advice

Re: A duck in green

You know about the focus, but other than that I like it a lot... I think the colour goes really well - lovely and vibrant. Really nice composition too.

Re: A duck in green

Really nice shot Polo just unfortunate about the focus. The only advice I can offer you is when shooting static subjects like this and recomposing after focus lock is to use a non tracking middle focus point, i.e Canon is "one shot" not sure about Nikon. That way you can lock focus exactly where you want and then recompose keeping the focus point locked in. i t looks like you may have used all focus points even though you might have been trying to focus on the head, the camera has chosen the tail feathers as they are the closest.
