What an attractive little bird, can see why you like them so. Good shot I admire those who are able to take good shots of birds or wild life I am useless by the time I have finished staring it is too late for the shot.

Where did you focus in the picture?
To me the foreground looks sharp and then it starts to lose it.... until the background (and your suggestion of the Church as focal point) is out of focus.
It may pay when you consider other shots like this to concentrate on the hyperfocal distance when focusing and composing your shot - that way you will maintain much more clarity throughout the whole image, from front, through middle ground to the distance.
that said, it is a nice view to photograph.
