Birds and snow! :D
Ok... so was out feeding the birds - because of the snow -and a first for our feeders - we have coal tits! ;D I am very happy about this! 
anyways... snow and bird pics! Will try to get more snow pics when it stops snowing!

You really are spurring me on to try and get some more bird shots, there is something so satisfying in managing to shot something in detail you can't really see with the naked eye. Think it may be some while to get to your standard but you have improved so much in the last few months there is hope for me.

thank you all! and Snapper - of course there's hope for you - I'm only at the beginning of what promises to be a challenging and rewarding learning curve! the lens I use is a thing I couldn't be without - and a very good investment - other than that it's all about practice and patience! I'm sure you'll get there!

I often wish we had bird feeders as I see so many great shots on here. Problem is (having 4 killer cats) if I encourage the birds the cats just kill them.
Karen's Gran has a fab setup with feeders all around the window which is ideal for photography but I never remember to take my camera.

We have always had nest boxes but the feeders are new, OH has always been reluctant as he worries about attracting rats but I reckon they are there anyway and may be it will keep them out the garage, rats not birds.

when i use a tripod it's just a cheapo tesco one (only supporting the lens) 
i do need a decent one!
Normally though I use a monopod (manfrotto)
