Agility, experimenting with angle

Taking Dawns tip of crouching to the next level, I took these while laying on the ground under the jumps while the dogs went over, I need more practice but I`m quite pleased at how they are coming along so far

Re: Agility, experimenting with angle

Great angle shots but they do show up the drawback of P/S cameras, not the photographer. That is being able to get a quick enough shutter speed to freeze the action, The exif files show a shutter speed of 1/500 sec and at the distance taken would require a much higher shutter speed than that camera can reach.

One way that may get over the problem Patch is to take the same pictures from further away than 6mm which is extremely close for that type of shot with that type of camera.

Ok I know what you are going to say , it would make the picture too small to get the results I want and the angle wouldn't be so great, but depending on the pixels the camera shoots, a little post processing and enlarging/cropping would be worth the effort in my humble opinion.

As with any camera you have to get to know the limitations of the camera, when you find that those limitations prevent you from getting the photos you want, you have outgrown that camera. Its time to upgrade and not get held back purely because a camera cannot produce the photos you obviously are capable of taking.

I had more or less the same problem ( posted elsewhere) with a "slow" lens and decide to go for an f2.8 lens ( Listed below) which seems to have helped vastly.

Did you really mean 6mm Baz, that would not just be close to take a photo but almost suicidal, don't go photographing trains, will you.

Amazing attempt Patch, some compacts will allow you to set shutter priority, mine does but I don't know about yours. You may find that increasing the ISO setting would help too, would suggest 400 to start with, if your camera will allow this, may be called sensitivity and not ISO it is on my Pentax P & S.

Azz

Check out the exif files it does say focal length 6mm tag no920A. I can only go by what the data says. Ok it is only the data from the last picture. Don't forget it is only the focal length not the distance taken from.

Re: Agility, experimenting with angle

The 6mm is not the distance from sensor to subject but the focal length of the lens, 6mm is equal to 35mm focal length in 135 film terms.

Re: Agility, experimenting with angle

And just to make your day worse 6mm equals just 0.23 inches. Now that is close up photography
