Nikon SB600 vs SB800 - what's the difference?
What's the main difference between these two?
Can they be used off camera with the D300?
Can they be used off camera with the D300?

the main difference is in the power/light output the sb800 being the more powerful.
Another difference is the SB800 can be used as a command flash to control other flashguns (nikon) wheras the SB600 can't.
Both can be used off the D300 camera but both the camera and the gun have to be paired with each other.

What I have done is stored the camera side of the pairing in the camera memory bank so its just the flash to deal with. You will more than lightly have to change both settings each time the flash is on or off the camera.

Thanks Bazza - I'm thinking about getting the Sb600 and 50mm 1.5 or Sb800 and 50mm 1.8
