Analogue photographers, are we a dying breed ?

Actually I know the answer to that one but how many peeps still use film in their cameras as opposed to a chip ? cos, just been on Ebay for the last hour or so and still cant get away from looking at F4, F5, F6 and F100 and F90x,s, do I need to get a life ? or a new SLR / DSLR ?

Most defiantly a DSLR......best of both worlds, you get to see what you have taken so you don't waste film and you can manually focus etc so its still u taking the picture!

Hi Stewie, I developed films for years arghhh, all those hours in the darkroom arghh enlarging muckin about with chemicals No thanks

Having said that, taking pics in raw farmat then converting to tiff, then doing HRD, then tonemapping, It's just about as bad but at least I'm doing it in a bright room.

Is there a specific reason you are sticking with analogue? (eg professional work?) If not jump on-board Stewie

Being able to have my own dark room and develop my pics is something that has always fasinated me, but have never had the space, time or money to do it, so would have to rely on sending them off to be developed, but I love my DSLR and wouldn't have it anyother way, I love being able to take the pic, see what have I have taken immediately, then go home and put them on the laptop, I'm not the most patient person on this planet, so digital has made it a lot easier for me

That's the advantage of digital CL, you see what you've taken immediatetly, if you don't like it you just delete it, with films you don't see anything until it's developed.

i agree with nero i have both ! i mostly use digital as i find it better to delete them and cheaper in the long run but however i love the quaility of black and white films.with film you need the be patient waiting and waiting !bought a box brownie a while ago still not got round to it lol !

Yeah I know exactly what you mean, I dunno, just love sticking a roll of film in knowing full well this is going cost me so got to get it right, although tbh I will move over to digital as soon as I can afford it. Anyway quite fancy one those Olympus E410, s so it could be sooner rather than later, will have to drop a few hints to missus

I could never have been a photographer if digital hadn't been invented ..I couldn't afford the cost of developing film and experimenting as much as I do ..and I don't have the space to have my own darkroom
