Bad day

OK...it seemed such a good idea at the time...

I had a free entry to the seal sanctuary and a free day...unfortunately the weather was not on my side. It threw it down all day there was NO way I could get the camera out There are a couple of indoor underwater areas.. (well..one actually!) and I had a bit of practice while mum sat on the bench holding the dogs and dripping!

Some shapes in the water....

This little guy was so sad He was in the nursery as a rescued pup

They gave us a free entry if we come back within 14 days so fingers crossed for another free day and some better weather!

Re: Bad day

Tassle, I'm sure the seals enjoyed your company anyway.

Top tip for when you go back, take a polarising filter - it will reduce/remove any glare from glass or water reflection.

Thanks - will have to look into that - I did try as little reflection as possible.

I don;t have any filters yet methinks they are well worth the investment

Re: Bad day

Never mind hope your next visit is more successful. Polaroid filters are expensive but are worth it particularly if you are shooting through glass and into water. Mind you it is another thing to fiddle with.

Re: Bad day

A good polarizing filter will make most outside photos better. Keep in mind there's a wide quality variety in filters. I've upgraded to Quanteray filters at about $40 for a 52mm circular polarizer. It's thinner & causes no vignetting because of that. The Nikon polarizer is about $100. That's a bit above my budget.
