Flowers Again (Any Better?)

I know there are a few problems with this and unfortunately main one is that you can see the houses in front of mine!

5 Carnation (hard to photograph. I only have a basic program should I crop more to get rid of the bud in the picture?)

You're getting there PD, I actually really like the first one, esp when you view it all at once

I would go look at some of the other flowr shots, and then when you find some you like, try to copy them - that's what I used to do

Clairelou gave me loads of advice on flowers, I think getting the lighting right is important, so the colours look good, natural light is better than flash

Flowers like the Peruvian Lily are easier to photograph , as you have the Stamens to focus on, and use that as your focal point, when you want to go in close and get part of the flower. In no4 your focus is on the back of the flower, next time try the stamens.

No5 try it in a square crop and leave the bud in as it creates depth.

I find white flowers can be difficult, as you can easily blow the whites, so looking good

these images show just how much improvement someone can make to their work in such a short space of time, simply by taking on board constructive C&C. Credit to you Diane - you are making progress.

One of my main concerns about your images, in general, are: Do you not use a tripod or something to stabilize your shooting technique? and your composition skills; the latter is improving however.

Unfortunately at the moment just got camera and 2 lenses, so they and me are it Will hopefully get a tripod shortly and I think that I can just about afford hopefully a macro lens, yeah it won't be top of the range but hopefully I will be able to get some improvements with my shots.

PD I only have a couple of lenses, and I think a Macro lens is a great idea, for flower photography I adore mine, it is hardly off my camera, as I like it so much for all types of photography I think Carole has a 60mm macro for her Canon, and loves it.

Slowly getting there, I think!
