Cold Trickle

First real go at a bit of a flow, wanted to keep some substance to the water and not go cotton wool.

Just a test shot really:

Wow, that green is like 'velvia' green nice shot.

For me you have caught it about right, I am a don't like cotton wool person, like my water to look like it is dancing and sparkling and not like an abandoned fleece. Mind you don't mind that milky look on an area of still water gives a sultry sort of feel.

Personally I see this as neither one or the other. the effect being that it simply looks like a blurred image. I dont know if you used a tripod, or VR lens, I see no evidence of an ND grad which will give you extra stops to work with.

I appreciate it's a test image, but the overall image is way too busy, too many distractions competing for attention which detracts from the water flow. I know you know this - but I'm voicing it for the benefit of other users too.

I'd like to see slower water to capture the flow, or water captured sharp for impact.

Of course, as ever, this is just my opinion and preference.

I was trying another way of getting movement, hence the test. It's a 7 shot hdr.

why 7 shots? How had you stepped your exposure between shots?

They are a stop apart. I don't want the cartoon look that a lot of hdr has, and I find it better to get a more natural looking effect by using 7.

I like it, you've caught the movement of water perfectly without giving it the Liquid Nitrogen Gas effect.
