Re: Sparrows

You seem to take the shots I wish I could, I would be over the moon if I had taken these. Think the singing bird is spot on love the DOF it punches the bird off the page also love the soft effect of the pampas setting of the plumage to good effect.

Re: Sparrows

Your final picture is excellently composed - and a great shot. I'm surprised by just how much colour noise there is at full size at 1600 iso - I was under the impression that the 50D was good up to 64000 iso.

Thanks JR. I didn't bother with NR and just left it at the default settings. I probablly could have got rid of the noise but softened the images at the same time as well, in DPP. These images were all cropped and resized 30% of the originals. There are a lot of variables as to how good an image will look shot at high ISO, ie 6400 as I'm sure you will know, focal point, distance from subject, colours in the scene, correct exposure etc and, of course, how much noise reduction you use in camera, or if you use 3rd party NR software.

I thought these images were not too bad for being shot at 1600 ISO. The last one was under exposed and was bumped up quite a bit in DPP.

I'll have to experiment with the high ISO NR setting in camera, as it has 4 levels, standard, low, strong and disable. For these images I had it at 0 standard.

Here is one I made earlier I adjusted the chrominance and luminance sliders to 5 in DPP for this one. 1600 ISO

Canon 5D MKII
Canon 400mm f5.6 L
Canon 70-200mm f4.0 L

DJ these are fab, love the second one, and I really like the fourth, I like the softness of the pampas grass.
