Re: D60 Lenses

It can autofocus with all AF-S lenses. All new Nikon lenses are usually AF-S

While other more expensive Nikons focus with non af-s lenses... would you really want to use those lenses with a digital camera anyway? Non af-s lenses are usually older models.

Re: D60 Lenses

Personally I would go for AF-s, usually offering quieter and quicker focus. And as they're newer, optics built with digital cameras in mind.

Personally, I would go for lenses designed for your camera (so the newer ones for digital cameras, and the older ones for film). Jmo.

Re: D60 Lenses

But if you could afford top nodge AF-S glass, would you buy a D60? I think you would get better results with a D80 and some good old primes than D60 and the cheapest AF-S lenses.

Re: D60 Lenses

There are some great AF-s lenses that are highly respected in the 'budget' range too

The kit lens is just awesome for the price (18-55), then you have the 55-200 vr which is also highly respected. Or the 18-200. Now you have a 50mm af-s, bit more expensive but still affordable. I think that covers most of what people new to DSLRs would want

I would highly recomend the 55-200vr , I use this lens the most as an all-rounder'. I would say the lens is much more important than the body
