The tragedy is, of course, that if a photographer were to take similar pictures today, he would be up in front of the beak without his feet touching the floor.

Omg I want to play on those sea-saws and pirate ships and that circular thing where you strap your feet in 
although I can imagine how dangerous they are now looking back, imaging walking up to that pirate ship and you get smacked in the face

fantastic stuff.
There's a park by us that as well as the modern stuff - has one or two of the old original rides like the pirate ship (although it's a rocket) and the original roundabout.
As for the sea-saw, I remember my mate snapping his leg underneath one when we were kids.
